We’re Melanie and Kris, the creators of Dockside Travel, and we’re proud to call Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada home. Growing up on an island meant the ocean was always part of everyday life.
We spent plenty of time on ferries, traveling by sea long before cruising was ever on our radar. We even worked on ferries as university students. This experience provided us with firsthand knowledge of life aboard ships.
For a long time, to us, ships were about getting from point A to point B. Cruise ships, in our minds, were simply bigger versions of ferries. We couldn’t have been more wrong.
That early perspective is what makes our cruising journey unique. When we eventually stepped aboard our first cruise ship, it reshaped everything we thought we knew about life at sea.
Curiosity and trepidation soon turned into a passion. Over the past 20+ years, we’ve sailed with multiple cruise lines and explored ports across the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond.
